Wimp to Spartan Transformation: What is this music?

Spartan Crossfit Wimp to Spartan 13 from Peter Murphy on Vimeo.

In today’s blog post, I’d like to pose a question to video editor extraordinaire, Murphicus.  What in the world is that music?  You’ve instantaneously turned the Wimp to Spartan video into a four-quel to the Jason Borne movies in which his sister trains to become an Agency operative, find Jason and destroy him.  I assure you, readers, I am doing no such thing.

Also, MURPHY! Don’t ever get that close to my face again.  Way too close. WAY WAY TOO CLOSE! Ew.

Spartan Radio 18: The Good Life

Spartan Radio at www.radracing.org was LIVE again this past Tuesday, October 25th at 7:00pm PDT/9:00pm CDT/10:00pm EDT.  The Spartan chicks, Carrie Adams (Shawty Spartan) and Maurya Scanlon (moi) and the ever-wonderful Jim were joined by the newest member of the Spartan Radio Crew, Todd "we haven't thought of a nickname for him yet" Sedlak of the Spartan Storm Chasers.  Together, we brought the heat!  No kidding.  Todd broadcasts from the treadmill; I do 130 burpees, and Shawty recovers from a mad dash in smokin' hot, red heels.  We're also joined by very special guests from GORUCK, Brian and Jason.  Other guests include Phillip Topalian and Shawn Saunders.  To hear and see the madness, visit www.radracing.org.

Don't forget to join us every Tuesday night 7:00pm PDT/9:00pm CDT/10:00pm EDT at www.radracing.org/live to join our live chat and listen live!

Wimp to Spartan Transformation: The Foreboding High-Five

Shane has always been super supportive, and definitely pushes me, but when I get encouragement before anything even starts…I know I’m going to die.

Wimp to Spartan Transformation: TABATA!

Spartan Crossfit Wimp to Spartan 10 from Peter Murphy on Vimeo.

When we filmed this, I had just recently returned from doing the Beast a couple of days before.  For at least two days after the Beast, I couldn’t move.  Considering that, I must say, that I look pretty mobile in this video.  Shane had me doing chin-ups, which are AWESOME!  I must admit to you, that chin-ups make me feel way more badass then pullups.  Also, let me reiterate, how I love giant office supplies (the rubber bands).

Wimp to Spartan Transformation: Lacrosse ball torture is real

Spartan Crossfit Wimp to Spartan 9 from Peter Murphy on Vimeo.

In preparation for the Beast, Shane lead me in some stretching out exercises, and handstand training.  I must however clarify what I mean by “stretching out.”  I don’t mean the figure-4 stretch, or stretching out my calves.  I mean using a very simple Lacrosse ball to “really get in there and massage those muscles.”  Yes, Shane said that, and yes, it was as creepy as one might think.

We started with my feet.  I know I have discussed how I feel about feet on this blog before, but let me remind you.  I hate them so much that I pretend I don’t have them.  I don’t really know if I have a fear of them or if I’m simply repulsed by them.  I’m also convinced that my love of shoes stems from my need to hide my own feet from my eyes.  Shane also knew about my relationship with feet, and insisted that I start by punishing them with the lacrosse ball.  I’d like to add that after doing so, the same ball that did the hanky-panky with my foot was used on other muscle groups.  Repulsive.
